蓟州区，是千年古县 ，古称无终、渔阳、蓟州。 据《太平寰宇记》记载： 开元十八年，分幽州之渔阳县、三河县、玉田县三县置蓟州，取古蓟门关以名州。
这里有全国仅存的三座辽代寺庙之一独乐寺。1932年春，梁思成先生从北平到蓟县来的独乐寺非常兴奋，称之为“上承唐代遗风，下启宋式营造，实研究中国建筑蜕变之重要资料，罕有之宝物也。”
又是一年早春时节，让我们沿着梁先生的足迹，从北京一路向东，去叩开那千年前辽代寺庙的山门，一睹中国传统木建筑的魅力所在。
