It starts about 4 kilometers south of Lenghu Town in the north and ends at 953 kilometers of National Highway 315 in the south. There are also claims that one end is between the 953 and 954 kilometer road signs of National Highway 315, and the other end is about 7 kilometers north of the No. 5 oil base site in Lenghu. The entire journey is about 95 kilometers, but there are also records showing a length of 88 kilometers. Road condition: It is a three-level gravel road surface, mostly unpaved, with poor road conditions, many potholes and bumps, and high requirements for vehicle performance and driving skills. The highway passes through the largest Yadan landform group in China, with magnificent Yadan landforms along the way. The mounds are arranged in rows, some resembling the backs of whales emerging from the sea, known as whale backed Yadan. The Yadan landform here has not been artificially intervened, it is primitive and stunning, giving people a desolate and magnificent feeling, as if they are on the surface of Mars, hence the name "Mars Highway 1". Along the way, you will also pass through some other unique landscapes, such as the once prosperous but abandoned Cold Lake No. 5 Oil Base. Most of the buildings here are now dilapidated, leaving only the roadbed of the street and some residual walls, slogans, etc., which can make people feel the prosperity of the past and the desolation of today.
